I have finished second year of university!! A recent stressful few months of hand-ins and exams, but now I have summer holidays! Or not really for me... I have started my internship at Swedish Design House ACNE! I'm already exhausted from two days of working. I'm assisting the head of marketing and press for the Stockholm headquaters (there are also press offices in London, Paris, and New York). It's going to be a lot of work, but exciting and giving a lot of insight at the same time.
Primarily- I work in the showroom, handling press requests, stylists who come to use bits of the collection and so on.. Today was really busy as it was the 'line release' for SS12 Resort Collection. The capsule collection that is released to shops before the core SS12 collection arrives. Like a taster of what is to come. So the showroom was full of buyers and journalists viewing the collection. It's quite a lengthy process, for those of you who don't know, each piece is shown and the inspiration behind it discussed. This helps the buyers and press get a 'feel' for the collection, and also to get the material details, wholesale prices etc. Hopefully there will be lots of orders for the collection!
So most of the summer will be spent at ACNE HQ! But in July I will be in Paris for 2 weeks. I'm moving there in september for the year (!!!) to do a student placement. I'm going to meet the people at the company I'm going to be working at, and search for an apartment! Fingers crossed it won't be too difficult.. I'm going to be working at a Fashion consultation and recruitment company for the year, their clients include design houses like Celine, Balenciaga, Hermes, etc so it's definitely right up my street!
Enough of all these future plans now- just thought I would update you all on what's coming up! Of course I will be documenting it all here on Style As I Might, so stay tuned for all the behind-the-scene action!
